For Just One Day is a great book that encourages children to exercise their imagination, like the child in the book who imagines what it would be like to be various animals — a monkey, a butterfly, a bear, a bee, etc. — but only for one day. (After I read this book with my son, he immediately got inspired and told me that he wanted to be a cow!)
The text is written in an engaging rhyme that is fun to read out loud, while the retro-cool illustrations beg to be pored over. The overall message of the book, that being your own unique self is the best thing to be, is also wonderful, and the small mirror at the end of the book is a nice touch.
