Lemons Are Not Red (柠檬不是红色的) by Laura Vaccaro Seeger

Instead of simply telling you the colours of various things, the author — who’s also behind the other clever concept book Green — uses cut-outs and strategically painted pages to show you what colours they are NOT before the object appears in the correct colour with just a turn of the page.

We actually borrowed the translated version of this book in Chinese and it was a big hit with both kids — a great way to teach them how to say the names of colours in Chinese!
