Tails Chasing Tails by Matthew Porter

Tails Chasing Tails begins with an elephant chasing an unknown animal — the reader only gets the description and image of the tail of the animal being pursued; only when you turn to the next page is the prey’s face shown and identified.

This pattern of an animal chasing the tail of a mystery animal continues until we come full circle and the elephant is the one being pursued.

The artwork is nothing fanciful, but I liked the way the author uses a variety of adjectives to describe the different tails. Plus, kids above two years old can probably make good guesses about which animal the tail belongs to on each spread, for a simple activity.
