As the title suggests, In the Small, Small Pond centres around what happens in and around a pond as the seasons change from spring to winter.
The rhyming text is sparse (four per spread, e.g. “Lash, lunge herons plunge”) and reads well, with the focus on the vivid illustrations that kids love to look at. This book has become one of my daughter’s favourites, and she loves looking for and pointing out the frog who appears in every spread.
