We Were Tired of Living in a House by Liesel Moak Skorpen and Doris Burn

This delightful book indulges both the imagination and adventurous spirit of children with the tale of four siblings (and their pets) who, well, got tired of living in a house, so they packed up their things and moved to a treehouse, where they seemed to enjoy themselves.

However, when things went awry, they were forced to pack up and move to a raft on a pond. But no matter where they went, it seemed as though each place had its own drawbacks. Naturally, the message here is that there’s no place like home.


There’s a newer colour version with a different illustrator, which is not as intricately illustrated (see below), but the real problem is, both editions are out of print! You can try to snag a secondhand copy online, though — I did!
