Underground by Denise Fleming

What lies beneath? That’s the question that this fascinating book attempts to answer with its eye-opening illustrations of the creatures that live or hide underground, away from our prying eyes.

In the spirit of the sparse wording in Underground, I will keep it brief: both my kids were captivated by the detailed illustrations of the underground activities of various creatures — all done by the same talented author/illustrator behind the equally loved (by us) book shared previously, In the Small, Small Pond. The wide variety of creatures featured (>20) — all helpfully identified at the end of the book — are also great.

A unique book about a rarely talked-about habitat that will make you think twice before crossing a grassy field…
