We’re always on the look-out for books that offer a fresh point of view and encourage a new way to look at things. What Is Part This, Part That? certainly fits the bill, then.
Using brightly coloured illustrations, fold-out pages and rhyming text, kids are alternately presented with unconventional ideas about familiar things — such as a bee being part buzz and part sting, or how riding in traffic is part go and part stop — as well as thought-provoking riddles along the same vein, such as “What’s found in the sea that is part shell and part pearl?” or “What time of day is part wash and part play?”
The end effect is a rather inspiring book that encourages creative thinking —although, the lack of answers to the additional riddles posed on the back jacket sleeve might be frustrating for some.
