The ingenious paper engineering in What’s in the Witch’s Kitchen? allows the reader to lift the flap on each spread in two directions for startlingly different results.
Even though some of the surprises are supposed to be ‘yucky shocks’, they are really more amusing than frightening, and kids will squeal and chuckle as they read the wacky rhymes and discover the hilariously imaginative surprises (the yucky ones are the best!) hiding beneath the flaps.
