A simple question such as “What Do You Like?” may generate myriad answers; and even when the replies appear to be identical, you may be surprised if you dig a little deeper.
In this book, a girl and a boy take turns to share what they like, and the author’s dreamy and imaginative watercolour illustrations show that the same words may mean different things to different people. For example, the statement “I like my cat” accompanies both an illustration of a domestic cat on the girl’s head, as well as that of the boy riding a tiger.
The innocent charm of the book thus effortlessly invites kids to think about and share on their likes/dislikes, and encourages them to embrace their individuality.
