The Good Ship Crocodile by J. Patrick Lewis and Monique Felix

Fun fact: Crocodiles are one of the best at dealing with inclement weather conditions like the 5-hour downpour that we had today; most other terrestrial creatures try to seek some form of shelter and wait for the rain to pass as best as they can — much like us, but without the creature comforts…

So on a wet and gloomy day, it’s nice to imagine that a good animal samaritan like The Good Ship Crocodile exists to help his distressed neighbours across flooded waters.

J. Patrick Lewis’s heartwarming tale of good begets good is also a stunning showcase for Monique Felix’s extraordinary illustrations, which are just, in a word, luminous — and no, it’s not because there are fireflies involved!
