What’s Looking at You, Kid? by J. Patrick Lewis and Renee Graef

While the title is a sly nod to the famous Casablanca line that only adults will get, the simple rhyming animal riddles inside are written squarely with kids in mind.

Highlighting a particular attribute of each animal, the delightful rhyming triplets penned by former Children’s Poet Laureate J. Patrick Lewis not only draw your attention to the details in the soft illustrations, but are pure poetry in the way they evoke the imagination and get you to see each creature in a new light. Brilliant work.

This is my daughter’s favourite page and she loves to quote the lines,”… a yo-yo on a string! Whee!”
