I Really Want to Eat a Child by Sylviane Donnio and Dorothee de Monfreid

Parents who’ve had to pull their hair out over their little picky eaters’ dietary woes will empathise with little Achilles’s parents when he declares one day that wholesome bananas are no longer his cup of tea. Instead what he really wants is to eat a child!

Alas when he meets a real child, his plan goes hilariously awry — as it turns out, Achilles has a bit of growing up to do before his bite can match his lofty bark.

While I’d Really Like To Eat A Child is a silly story with a wacky premise — everyone knows that crocodiles don’t eat bananas! — there’s something admirable about Achilles’s youthful idealism and single-minded dedication to achieving his goal.
