One Big Pair of Underwear by Laura Gehl and Tom Lichtenheld

Bears and underwear are somewhat separate clichés in kidlit. But putting TWO awkward-looking bears in ONE supersized pair of tighty-whities on the book cover is so awesomely hilarious that it’s completely genius.

With a title and cover like that, though, it’s a pleasant surprise to find that One Big Pair of Underwear doesn’t fall back on cheap toilet humour, but is instead a sophisticated and entertaining counting/mathematical book with witty rhymes, neat illustrations of wacky anthropomorphised animals AND a great message about sharing. Brilliant!
