For one little girl, a trip to the zoo turns out more ‘interactive’ than planned when, one by one, the animals approach her to procure various oddjects for them (yes, the animals can talk and they are pretty persuasive too!).
What the helpful girl doesn’t know, of course, is that she’s a vital cog in the wheel of the animals’ outrageously grand plan…
Partly laid out like a graphic novel with frames and speech bubbles, the hilarious dialogue between the hapless girl and the animals is an excellent showcase of the author’s wacky dry humour.
The highlights, though, are the quirky illustrations, which have a surreal quality that transports the reader into an alternate universe where you believe that anything is possible, including a whole zoo full of sneaky, scheming and highly resourceful animals!
