Leonardo, the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems

There are two types of terrible monsters: the terribly terrifying ones who can scare the tuna salad out of anyone, and the ones who are just plain terrible at being monster-y monsters — like Leonardo.

But everyone has particular strengths and weaknesses, and Leonardo soon discovers that although he’s bad at being a monster, he is terrific at something that is much more meaningful and rewarding.

While the pastel palette and oddly Western fonts in Leonardo, the Terrible Monster are interesting departures from that in his other books, you can be sure that there are some Mo Willems staples that you can always count on: a heartwarming story told succinctly, with hilarious illustrations and likeable characters — check, check and check.
