No Such Thing by Jackie French Koller and Betsy Lewin

When his family moves into an old house, Howard can’t sleep because he thinks there’s a monster under his bed, even though his mom insists there’s no such thing. Meanwhile, under Howard’s bed, a “non-existent” little monster is afraid because he hears a boy above his bed, but HIS mom is adamant that there’s no such thing!

The funny thing is, when these two supposedly mythical scary/scaredy creatures come face-to-face, the unexpected happens: they bond over something they both have in common.

The scrawly style of illustration really suits the suspenseful monster theme of this entertaining tale and the fun twist gives a new spin on the usual monster-under-the-bed story to help dispel those niggling nighttime fears about creatures lurking in the dark!
