Judging from the success of The Walking Dead and the hilarious Zombieland that I finally got around to watching recently, zombies have become pretty mainstream fare. Thus, it might come as no surprise that they have also entered the realm of picture books.
Peanut Butter & Brains is a refreshing take on zombies told from a culinary angle, starring Reginald, a zombie gourmand who is determined to make the cliché of his species’ appetite for brains a thing of the past. Why eat yucky brains when there are way yummier and less messy fare, like peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches, right?
Charles Santoso’s adorable ink-and-watercolour illustrations are perfectly kid-friendly, and everything — including the brains — looks almost good enough to eat!
