I love a good whodunit, and while this brilliantly original picture book is no Agatha Christie mystery, it offers little ones the chance to play a deductive game, simply by exercising their observation skills.
Every spread poses a question that begins with “Who” — as in “Who didn’t get enough sleep?” or “Who ate all the jam?” — and features a lineup of the most adorable “suspects” you’ve ever seen. Besides a few terms that required a little explanation (e.g. “Who’s pulling a prank?”) or emotional maturity (“Who’s in love?”), the kids had no trouble answering most of the questions on their own, with the help of the subtle visual clues in the expressive illustrations.
Just in case, there are also answers provided at the back of the book. Fun!
Like it, the concept and illustration is great!
